Spain is a kickass place to have a wedding. My friend Lindsay and her husband Robert, who had been living in northern Spain, decided to kick it up a few more notches by renting out a lovely, old-school Spanish finca on the Costa del Sol, where they put up 35 of their friends and family members for a long weekend in June 2012. Half an hour outside Fuengirola, Finca Hechizo is an idyllic retreat—though in fairness, "retreat" is much too mild a term for the weekend's festivities.
While the ladies dressed and made themselves up, the boys played cards and strummed ukelele. Robert's mother artfully assembled bouquets of local blossoms for the ceremony, while Lindsay's father spent the morning architecting a palm-and-bamboo structure under which his daughter and her groom recited their vows in the sultry evening air.
Lindsay's was the first wedding I shot from start to finish. My lack of experience at the time was offset by the handsomeness of what I had to work with: the striking setting, a boatload of love, and a pretty damn good looking pair.
Not included: documentation of the utter chaos our group wrought on the house after four days of toasts, roasts, and all-night swim parties.
Robert and Lindsay are fabulous travelers and bloggers. Check out their stuff at His and Her Travel.
